Mm... Food

Nothing has been a better deterrent from order DoorDash than me getting food poisoning every single time despite ordering from completely different restaurants that I’ve ordered from in the past without problem. yes I know it’s (likely) because of all the deregulation that’s been going on in the food industry and I know it’s not going to get any better in the future either. I’m slowly accepting my fate that I’m just going to have to get good? better?at cooking my own meals and sticking with that because getting food poisoning every week is NOT it.

I’ve been doing basic meal prepping before all of this started happening, actually since my mom moved out in September and I’ve had the house to myself. Very basic meals since I’m a broke bitch who can tolerate eating variations of rice + veggies + a protein forever for my main meal and a okay breakfast. I’m also starting to make good use of my slow cooker. I basically pick out a slow cooker recipe from BudgetBytes and portion out meals for the week. I also keep cheap easy to make meals like box mac and cheese and ramen on hand for days when I’m not feeling whatever I made that week or I have zero energy.

I still haven’t figured out a solution for my snacking habit but thankfully my tastes are relatively cheap so I just keep popcorn, peanuts, and my favorite dry cereal on hand to snack on. I do also like fruit a lot but I usually buy fruit cups or frozen fruit to make smoothies with since I am very slow at eating things so I don’t buy fresh very often because I have a very valid fear I’m not going to eat all of it before it goes bad. I do the same for my veggies except I buy canned most of the time unless I’m buying something that I’m going to immediately use for meal prepping.

Maybe once I get more adventurous and experimental with my meal prep recipes I’ll start sharing them? I want to try making my own chili and soups but for now I’ve been following other’s recipes. I do have my overnight oats recipe but I’m still trying to figure out the right ratio of ingredients so I can make it the right flavor and consistency each time haha.
